Megan Merrikin Physical Changes
I used to be so unhappy with myself. My whole life I was “fit,” until I turned 24. I graduated with an undergrad degree in exercise science because I used to love it so much. Between 24 and the month before I turned 26, I gained 30lbs. I literally had no idea why or how it happened. In my mind, I was watching what I ate, but I was exercising a lot less because of my new job. I remember thinking, “I shouldn’t have to track everything I eat, as long as I make healthy choices.” So for 2 years, I made what I THOUGHT were “healthy choices.” But of course, I didn’t take into consideration so many things. Long story short, I was extremely unhappy with my body. I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror without feeling disgust. I thought something was actually wrong with it and there was nothing I could do.
My fiancé, Josh, said he used to hate seeing me feel the way that I did, and that he wishes I could see myself the way he sees me. He said “I just want you to be nice to yourself and be happy with yourself.” One day, he found out about TCL, and I came home from work, and he said, “On Monday, we are starting this program together.” He paid for the first 3 months for me. THANK GOD for him!! I was stuck in a slump feeling sorry for myself. I don’t know when I would’ve realized I need to snap out of it.
The first few weeks were tough, but I started seeing results. I learned to change some [clearly] bad habits I was previously ignoring (i.e. drinking sugary alcoholic drinks, convincing myself pasta for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was good for me, etc.) and it was all because of TCL [and Josh!]. The best part about it? I still had my alcoholic beverages and pasta! And I was losing weight! The BEST part about TCL is that you CAN have whatever you want! You just have to learn to plan it into your day beforehand and make it work for your customized program. Another great thing that I learned from TCL is how to listen to your body. I started to correlate my physical energy levels with the foods I ate the day before, and I have never been more in-tune with my body.
I ended up losing just under 20lbs, and lost a few inches off my waist, chest, and hips. But I don’t like to focus on that. What I like to focus on lately is that for the first time in a long time, I don’t hate what I see in the mirror. I don’t hate how I feel in clothes. That is priceless 🙂 Thank you Cindy and TCL for everything!
