Congratulations to Kate Miller on an extremely impressive transformation – both physical and emotional. Working with Kate over the past year has been a pleasure. She gives 110% to everything she does and it shows. I looked forward to reviewing her worksheet each week. Her attention to detail – planning every day, every event, holiday, vacation, etc. and staying consistent throughout – helped her attain her goals.
Kate is continuing her journey to better health recently incorporating Intermittent Fasting into her life. Wishing you continued success and looking forward to seeing where that takes you.
My whole life I struggled with my weight. I was always the heavy girl with the low self-esteem. I had tried every “diet” in the book, from starvation to Weight Watchers. Sometimes diets would work but they would never last. Any weight I managed to lose would come back and then some. The reality was that I was uneducated about my body and what I was doing was not sustainable.
I began CrossFit about 5 years ago and instantly fell in love. CrossFit taught me about the strength I possessed and what persistence could bring . I felt stronger and I gained confidence in myself. My new CrossFit community was centered around health, fitness wise and diet wise. I tried some diets, like Paleo, but I always fell into the same cycle; lose weight, fall off the program, gain weight.
Fast forward a few years to when I got married. I lost some weight for my wedding but afterwards, my wife and I, gained a lot of weight because life had become a constant celebration. The celebration continued on to a trip to Aruba. I was the maid of honor in my best friend’s wedding and was completely oblivious to how I truly looked and felt. That all came crashing down when her wedding pictures came out in May of 2017. I knew I had to change something and I knew if I was going to improve my health it would be a full time commitment and forever. I didn’t feel ready to change my eating habits so I expected to fail just like every time before.
Regardless, we contacted The Cynergistic Life (TCL) for help. After meeting with me, my coach, Dianne, set me up with a macro plan. She knew about all my habits and past trial and errors with diets. The first twelve weeks counting and planning was difficult, easy, and most importantly eye opening. I learned how to properly fuel my body and saw the best results I had ever had. In just the first 12 weeks I lost 31.6 pounds. I was hooked on my success and continued the program. I am now on week 57 and have lost 88 pounds. I have lost 14.5 inches on my hips, 6.25 inches on my waist, 7.5 inches on my chest, 8.5 inches on my things, and 2 inches on my calves. I went from 50.5% body fat to 21.2% body fat and from a size 20 to a size 6/8.
With losing the weight and gaining my health back I have seen so many successes in my life. I can do many more things at CrossFit than before. I recently did my first rope climb and did three in the WOD that day. I can now do toes-to-bar and I have graduated from body weight lunges to weighted lunges. I look forward to going to CrossFit more because I am constantly excited to see what my body can do now. I now have goals that I never thought would be attainable for me and I am so much more confident and happy.
I plan on continuing with TCL and my coach Dianne. My journey is not done yet and will never be done. TCL has given me a plan that is sustainable so I can do it long term and it gives me the freedom to be social. I have learned that diet is the priority in weight loss which is the opposite of what I had been taught my whole life. This whole process wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my TCL coach and my wife, following her own TCL journey.
