Congratulations to Laura Armstrong on an incredible 12 week transformation. One week after Laura started the program, she hurt her neck and was in incredible pain. But she didn't let that stop her from moving forward with her nutrition. After a few weeks, she was able to start walking. What she discovered in these 12 weeks is that it really is all about what you eat!
Laura's story proves that you don't have to CrossFit or even work out to be successful in this program. Also, because of her neck injury, it was extremely painful for her to use a computer on a daily basis. We were able to work around that issue and communicated by e-mail about her weekly results - making this a truly "personalized" program for her.
Laura's physical changes:
- Lost 21.6 pounds
- Lost 4.6% bodyfat
- Gained .5% muscle
- Lost 10 years body age
I didn't really have any expectations except to hopefully not gain any more weight. Since I wasn't able to do much but walk I was afraid I would gain a lot while getting better.
I couldn't believe that I consistently lost weight without exercising. I know I need to but when I couldn't I just assumed I would just stay the same or lose minimal weight. My knees and hips aren't bothering me as much and I am sleeping much better, and that has always been an issue for me. Energy levels are so much better and I am just happier.
What are some of the most powerful lessons you are walking away with?
It's all about the food. I was only hungry once or twice and it was because I didn't prepare. So next is prep, prep, prep. When you think you are hungry, drink a glass or two of water and wait a half hour, the feeling will go away. There is always a better and healthier alternative to what you would normally choose. And the thing is it tastes great. I forgot one thing, MFP (MyFitnessPal) is awesome – logging it doesn't take long and it helps so much.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
For once I put myself first. I stayed on plan. I didn't cheat once and it shows on the scale. I am going to continue with maintenance. Also I got my kids and husband to eat the same as I did most of the time.
I wanted to thank you for all your support during this program and over the years at Cynergy. It is such a great community. This is such a good program. Shows how you can eat everything in moderation. It amazes me how much I am able to eat in a day and still consistently lose every week even if it is just .4 pounds. The scale is still going in the right direction.
The most important thing for me is tracking. Just when I think I may want something that is not so healthy I try to fit it in, I can't pull the trigger because I have to give up too much food. I have learned so much about my body and myself since joining Cynergy and I have been able to pass along these lessons to my kids.
